Cookie Policy

How the Current Connections website uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them.

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how the Current Connections website (www.currentconnections.co.za) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website. It works together with our Privacy Policy.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to the owners of the site.

3. How We Use Cookies

Our website is a static, content-based website. We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep the website secure and working correctly, and to understand how visitors use it so that we can improve it.

We also use Google Analytics to measure how visitors find and use our website. Google Analytics sets cookies that distinguish one visitor from another and record which pages are viewed. We use this information only in aggregate, to see which pages and services are most useful and to identify pages that are not working well for visitors.

We do not use advertising cookies, we do not use the Google Analytics advertising or remarketing features, and we do not sell or share your personal information for advertising purposes.

4. Types of Cookies

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the website to function correctly, such as security and load-balancing cookies. These cannot be switched off in our systems.
  • Functionality cookies — used to remember choices you make, such as your preferred language or region, to improve your experience.
  • Analytics cookies — used to understand how visitors use our website so that we can improve it, for example which pages are viewed and how visitors reach us. These collect information in an aggregated form. The analytics cookies we currently set are listed in section 6 below.

5. Managing Cookies

You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies, and to set preferences for specific websites. Please refer to the help section of your browser for more information.

To opt out of being measured by Google Analytics across all websites, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. You can also block or delete the analytics cookies listed in section 6 below. Doing so will not affect how the website works for you — all page content, contact details and our enquiry form continue to function normally.

6. Third-Party Cookies

We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to measure how visitors use our website. Google Analytics sets the following first-party cookies on our behalf:

  • _ga — distinguishes one visitor from another. Expires after up to 2 years.
  • _ga_MB1Y1F3RZS — distinguishes one browsing session from another for our Google Analytics property. Expires after up to 2 years.

The information these cookies collect is processed by Google on our behalf as our service provider, and Google may process it on servers outside South Africa. You can read more in Google's Privacy Policy.

Our contact page also embeds a map provided by OpenStreetMap. When that map loads, OpenStreetMap receives your IP address and may set cookies in accordance with its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review.

7. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page, and where appropriate, we may notify you by email or through a notice on our website.

8. Contact Us

If you have any questions about this Cookie Policy or how we use cookies, please contact us at info@currentconnections.co.za or 082 442 2128.

This Cookie Policy is effective as of September 2026.
